First Father’s Day: 10% Relaxation, 90% Chores?

This year marked Brett’s very first Father’s Day, and we kept things simple but meaningful, just the way we like it. A few funny shirts for him to wear (because let’s be honest, a good dad joke on a T-shirt is basically a love language), some quality time as a family, and of course… a tiny bit of chaos, because chores don’t take a day off. Not even for Dad.

We didn’t plan anything big, but sometimes the quiet, ordinary moments are the ones that stick. Alice was her usual wild self, crawling and squealing and keeping us on our toes. Pepsi supervised from a sunbeam. And Brett? He has been wrangling Alice all morning, with a Father’s Day grin and probably wondering when the real break kicks in.

We did our best to make the day special between the dishes, garden hacks, cake, errands, and everything else we have to cram into Sundays. And even though it wasn’t picture-perfect, it was ours. Watching Brett be Alice’s dad is something I never take for granted. He’s the CALM in our storm, the one who keeps things grounded even when everything feels like a mess. Because mom’s frantic 75% of the time. He didn’t get a break from chores this year… but hopefully, he felt the love.
