We had a bit of a slow start this year with the garden. Between late planting, and just figuring out where to put what, I wasn’t sure if anything was actually going to take off.
But look at us now.
Things are finally growing like they mean it, tomatoes are turning red, the peppers look sturdy, and the zucchini have totally taken over their corner like they pay rent. It’s been such a satisfying thing to step outside and see it all doing its thing.
That said… something is eating our zucchini. It’s some little bug with gourmet taste. I know we have squash bugs hard to keep up on getting rid of those little suckers. I check the leaves and stems, they are still winning. Honestly though, that’s part of the process. You plant, you learn, and you adjust for next time.
Even with the bumps, it feels good to be doing this. There’s something about watching things grow that makes all the trial and error worth it. So next year? We’ll be better prepared. We’ll plan smarter. And maybe, just maybe, our zucchini will stand a fighting chance.
